Sabesp Funds Brazilian Water and Sanitation Projects

Brazilian water utility Sabesp is to invest R$520m ($326m) in achieving universal water and sanitation coverage for the Paraiba Valley, Brazil, by 2014.

The funds will help municipalities such as Sao Jose dos Campos, Campos do Jordao, Queluz, Sao Bento do Sapucai, Guararema, Cacapava and Lavrinhas.

Work on phase I of the Parangaba River basin clean-up and Sao Jose dos Campos’s water supply improvements has already begun.

Sabesp will spend R$106m on expanding wastewater collection and treatment in the city of Campos do Jordao and R$14.9m on a sewerage system for Queluz.
