ADB funds water and sewer systems in Zimbabwe

The African Development Bank (ADB) has allocated a loan of $29.6m to upgrade water and sewer systems in Zimbabwe.

A total of $5.9m will be used for capacity building, medium to long-term investment plans, project management services and other cost associated with project implementation in Harare, Chitungwiza, Chegutu, Masvingo, Mutare and Kwekwe.

The remaining funds will go towards restoring the old infrastructure.

Mutare will use the grant to rehabilitate its sewer plants, install a trunk sewer and renovate an abandoned water pipeline and reservoir.

Kwekwe will buy water pumping equipment, electrical equipment and fund ancillary works at its water and sewer plants, reports The Herald.
