Cesan to create PPP for Brazilian sanitation improvements

Brazilian water company Cesan is to create a R$700m ($423m) public-private partnership to improve the basic sanitation services of the city of Serra, Espirito Santo, Brazil.

Cesan president Neivaldo Bragato said that the firm secured part of the funds from federal savings bank Caixa Economica Federal and national development bank BNDES, and will start various projects shortly.

Cesan will invest R$1bn ($604m) in the state of Espirito Santo until 2014.

The company serves 52 municipalities, providing sewerage services for one million people and potable water to 2.2 million people.
