VINCI to build sewer systems in the Dominican Republic

France-based VINCI has received a €108m contract from Instituto Nacional de Aguas Potables y Alcantarillados for the construction of sewer systems in five cities in the Dominican Republic.

The contract, which is part of the government’s cholera eradication programme, will cover wastewater collection and transfer and treatment systems in the cities of Monte Cristi, Neiba, Azua, San Jose de Ocoa and San Cristobal.

The scope of work includes laying 500km of pipes and designing and constructing eight treatment plants and six lifting and pumping stations.

Around €78.5m will be provided by the Emerging Country Reserve fund and €29.5m will be provided through local financing.

The works will be completed within 42 months.
