Punj Lloyd Wins $52m Solar Water Treatment Contract

Punj Lloyd Group has been awarded the largest solar-based EPC contract in India to resolve the severe groundwater contamination in the state of Bihar.

The Rs232 crore ($52.1m) contract covers the commissioning of 850 solar-powered water treatment plants across the state.

The group’s renewable energy arm Punj Lloyd Delta Renewables will deliver the contract for Bihar government’s public health department.

It aims to provide clean drinking water supplies across multiple districts and eradicate diseases including skin and lung cancer.

The combined solar power generation for these plants will be greater than 1.3MW, the company said.

Punj Lloyd provides engineering, procurement and construction services in the oil and gas, petrochemical and infrastructures sectors.
