Clemson University and WET Sign Desalination MoU

Clemson University and Water Enabled Technologies (WET) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop future water desalination products.

The US-based university says the collaboration will develop cost-effective desalination products through research based on the new technology known as modular desalination unit (MDU), which was developed by WET.

The MDU will provide fresh water at a fraction of the energy currently required by conventional technologies, such as reverse osmosis (RO) or the evaporation-type process.

There are two desalination membrane-based technologies, which include RO and electro-dialysis (ED), and thermal-based technologies, which include multistage flash evaporation (MSE), multi-effect distillation (MED), multi-stage flash distillation (MSF) and vapour compressor (VC).

WET is a company that develops technologies for industries, focusing on desalination.
