PetroSA to Invest $10m in Desalination Plant

South Africa’s PetroSA will invest R80m ($10m) in a desalination plant to meet water shortages at its Mossel Bay gas-to-liquids (GTL) refinery and nearby communities.

The desalination plant will have a capacity to process 200m³ per hour of sea water and provide five million litres per day of treated water.

It includes capacity for the recycling of 60m³ per hour of storm water and 170m³ per hour of treated effluent, according to engineeringnews.co.za.

As well as meeting the water requirement of the refinery at Mossel Bay, it will also provide water to the Mossel Bay town.
