Philippines Awards Cebu Desalination Plant Contract

Cebu City in the Philippines has awarded a PHP1bn ($76m) contract to a consortium to operate desalination units across the city over the next 30 years.

The consortium, which includes Pilipinas Water Resources Inc (PWRI), Mactan Rock Industries and businessman Michel Lhuillier, will manage and construct desalination facilities and potable water distribution systems in South Road Properties (SRP), Cebu City, Philippines.

SRP is a 300ha prime property development project located on reclaimed land off the coast of Cebu City’s central business district.

The consortium’s plants produce 350-500m³ of desalinated water a day and the capacity will increase as operations progress, according to mb.com.ph.
