Pakistan Allocates Water Projects Funds

Pakistan has awarded PKR3.8bn ($44m) for various water projects taking place in 2010-11.

The Government allocated PKR823m ($9.6m) each for the WASA sewage schemes in South Punjab and for the construction of a sewerage treatment plant in Benazirabad.

PKR411m ($4m) was earmarked for the urban water supply scheme in Benazirabad and PKR691.7m ($8m) for the Greater Quetta water supply project.

PKR708.9m ($8m) was set aside for the Greater Karachi bulk water supply scheme (K-III), according to nation.com.pk.

A further PKR185.2m ($2m) is to fund the construction and replacement of water supply lines under the Lyari Development Package and PKR164.6m ($2m) for the Greater Water Supply Scheme for Peshawar.
