Arcadis Secures Brazil Water Contract

Arcadis has won a $54m contract from Brazilian water utility Sao Paulo State Basic Sanitation Company (SABESP) to assist in the expansion of Sao Paulo’s water infrastructure.

Under the contract a consortium led by Arcadis will provide project management services for the collection, removal and treatment of waste water.

The five-year Tietê phase III project includes construction of a 1,250km additional sewerage network, 580km of main sewers and interceptors, and increasing the sewage treatment capacity by 7.4m³ per second.

The project will improve the water quality and environment for the northern and eastern sections of Sao Paulo.

The total cost of the project is $1bn and the Netherlands-based Arcadis holds a 35% share in the contract.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2016.
