Indian State Canal Relining Project Moves Ahead

The Indian state of Punjab has allocated Rs14.4bn ($311m) for the relining of canals connecting Rajasthan and Sirhind.

The canal relining will stop water losses due to breaches and leakages in the canal system, which the state depends on for food production.

The state government has also approved a Rs5.4bn ($116m) Kandi canal stage-II project.

Punjab depends on the canals to provide water to farmers and the project is expected to be executed within four years, according to ians.in.
