Veolia Introduces Water Impact Index

Veolia Water North America has unveiled a water impact index, which is the first such indicator that can comprehensively assess the impact of human activity on water resources.

The Water Impact Index has expanded the existing volume-based water measurement tools by adding multiple factors such as water consumption, resource stress and water quality.

The index establishes the impact of human activity on water resources and provides a methodology for establishing the positive and negative implications of how water resources are managed.

The new tool will help public and private-sector decision makers to understand and quantify the impact on water resources and take effective decisions by considering a broader set of environmental and cost factors.

The tool simultaneously gives an assessment of water and carbon along with an economic analysis, providing organisations with a more comprehensive framework for taking sustainable decisions.
