US City Upgrades its Wastewater Treatment Plant

The city of Ferndale in Whatcom county, US, has begun work on a wastewater treatment plant upgrade with an investment of $10.8m.

The upgrades involve removal and replacement of old structures, improvement of grading and construction of new structures and underground pipelines.

The project, awarded to Eureka-based contractor Ken Wahlund, will take 12 to 18 months to complete.

The project has been funded by a $5m federal loan through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
