Sri Lanka to Invest in Wastewater Service Enhancement

Sri Lanka will invest $116m in the Greater Colombo wastewater management project, which will improve water and sewage services in the country’s capital.

The project will modernise the existing sewerage infrastructure and management services to reduce leakages and blockages in the city’s sewer lines.

Four new sewerage pumping stations will be built, while six existing ones will be refurbished and seven rehabilitated. Storm drains will also be separated from the sewerage network.

The Sri Lankan Government has shortlisted the project proposals and work is expected to start before the end of the year.

Asian Development Bank will provide $100m for the project, according to dailynews.lk.
