Peru to Expand Lima’s Water Services

Peruvian water authority Sedapal is to invest PEN1.05bn ($3,695m) to expand water and sanitation services in capital city Lima by 2011.

Sedapal, which serves Lima and neighbouring Callaois, will undertake ten projects worth PEN608m ($213m) to improve water and sanitation services in the capital.

Sedapal will also carry out the Huascacocha project, which involves building a water transfer system from Lake Huascacocha in the Junin region to the La Atarjea water treatment plant near Lima.

The investment will improve water and sanitation services to 95% of Lima residents by 2011, according to waterworld.com.
