Uganda to Build Sewage Treatment Plant

Uganda will construct a sewage treatment plant and additional sewage systems near Kampala with an investment of UGX193bn ($86m).

The project includes the construction of a new sewerage treatment plant on the Nakivubo channel and subsequent sewage systems in water-catchment areas around the Kinawataka, Nalukolongo and Lubigi sewage channels.

The project also includes the construction of water treatment systems that will be set up in Mukono to improve the water system and ensure better water supply in the eastern parts of Uganda.

The project, which is financed by the African Development Bank, the German Government and the European Union, is expected to begin in 2011, according to monitor.co.ug.
