Mexican State to Tender Water Supply Project

Mexico’s Tamaulipas state plans to invest Mex$6.56bn ($516m) in building a 24km pipeline to solve water shortages in the area.

The Falcon-Matamoros potable water pipeline will transport water from the Falcon reservoir to the cities of Camargo, Diaz Ordaz, Guerrero, Matamoros, Mier, Miguel Aleman, Reynosa, Rio Bravo and Valle Hermoso.

The project will be part-financed by the Mexican federal government through the country’s national water authority Conagua and national infrastructure fund Fonadin.

The project also includes the operation of the pipeline for 30 years, according to bnamericas.com.

The tender for the project is expected to be floated in August.
