Brazilian State to Float Tender for Sanitation Project

The water utility of the Sau Paulo state of Brazil plans to spend 67m real ($37m) on sanitation as part of its Pro-Billings reservoir cleanup programme.

The work, due to start in September, includes construction of 40km trunk sewers to discharge sewerage from Billings reservoir basin and the Ribeiro dos Couros stream.

The clean-up is the first of a two-phase plan, jointly funded by Sabesp and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Construction work will start in January 2011 with a scheduled completion date of July 2013, according to bnamericas.com.
