New Zealand to Ensure Kapiti Water Supply

New Zealand is planning a $24m water project to recharge the Waikanae River, ensuring a water supply to Kapiti Coast District for the next 50 years.

The project will involve the connection of three new bores to Kapiti’s borefield, construction of another pipeline to the water treatment plant and discharge of bore water into the river downstream.

The project was designed to minimise waterflow in the river during summer and ensure water supplies to Waikanae, Paraparaumu and Raumati.

New Zealand also plans to build a $33m dam, according to radionz.co.nz.
