Copasa Reports Q2 Profit

Copasa, Brazil’s Minas Gerais State water utility, has reported a profit of R121m ($68m) during Q2 2010, up 10% compared with R109 ($62m) posted in 2009.

Net revenues increased by 5.8% to R569m ($324m) from R538m ($306m) in the same quarter a year ago.

Copasa’s billed volume increased by 5.57%, with sewerage up 7.98% and water up 4.15%.

Copasa supplies potable water to 603 municipalities comprising 12.9 million customers and provides sewerage services in 155 municipalities with 7.6 million customers.
