Tata Steel to Build Indian Desalination Plant

Tata Steel will set up a desalination plant with an investment of almost Rs6bn ($128m) at its proposed industrial park in the Indian state of Orissa.

The plant will produce 20-25 million gallons of desalinated water per day to meet the water needs of the industrial complex’s plants.

Tata Steel has shortlisted five firms as potential technology partners for the desalination plant.

The Indian steel major is also looking to tap other sources of water, such as building check dams and water harvesting systems, to meet water requirements, according to businessstandard.com.
