Bolivia Plans Water-Sanitation Programme

Bolivia is planning to launch a $100m water and sanitation project to improve water supply and sanitation services in the country’s main cities, according to the Bolivian Government.

The environment ministry said phase I of the project planned for 2010-16 includes building a drinking water and sanitation infrastructure and designing a municipal water and sewage system.

The project also includes the construction of water intakes, potable water and wastewater treatment plants, and distribution networks in urban areas.

The Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECI) and the Inter American Development Bank (IDB) have funded $80m and $20m, respectively, for the project, according to waterworld.com.
