Peru Floats Irrigation Tender

Peru has floated a tender for the Majes-Siguas II irrigation project to be built at a cost of $410m.

The project work includes construction of the Angostura dam, an 18km water transfer tunnel, a water intake line on the Siguas River and an irrigation infrastructure for Pampas de Siguas and Pampas de Majes.

Out of the total cost of the irrigation project the Peruvian Government will fund $208m while the city of Arequipa will provide up to $57m.

Seven firms have pre-qualified for the project and on completion the project will irrigate 38,500ha of land, according to bnamericas.com.
