Peru Awards Irrigation Contract

Peru has awarded the $405m Majes-Siguas II irrigation project to consortium Angostura-Siguas.

The consortium consists of Spanish firm Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios and Peruvian firm Cosapi.

The project includes building a dam, an 18km water transfer tunnel and the installation of 200km of irrigation networks in Pampas de Siguas and Pampas de Majes.

The project will be jointly funded by the Peru regional government and it will irrigate 38,500ha of land in the regions of Arequipa, Cuzco, Apurimac, Puno, Moquegua and Tacna, according to bnamericas.com.
