US City to Implement Sewer Project

Kansas City, US, has received approval from a federal judge to undertake a $2.5bn sewer overhaul project.

The city will renovate the antiquated sewer system, which discharges raw sewage into the Missouri, Kansas and Blue rivers.

The project will eliminate overflows of untreated raw sewage and reduce pollution levels in urban stormwater.

The project, which will cost an average of $100m a year, is expected to be finished within 25 years, according to kansascity.bizjournals.com.
