UK County Unveils Water Investment Plan

Yorkshire Water has unveiled a £330m ($521m) investment plan to upgrade water and wastewater treatment works in Yorkshire, UK.

The water utility appointed ETM, Morgan Sindall Grontmij, Black & Veatch and Mott MacDonald Bentley to carry out water and wastewater treatment works, including the Acomb Landing water treatment works in York.

The investment includes a £110m ($173m) project to improve the quality of bathing water along the east coast of Yorkshire to conform to the revised bathing water directive.

The investment is part of Yorkshire Water’s £1.35bn ($2bn) investment programme it announced in March 2010 to be implemented over the next five years to ensure secure supplies of drinking water, according to yorkpress.co.uk.
