Mexican State Awards Wastewater Plant Contract

The Mexican state of Sonora has awarded a Mex$800m ($64m) contract to Cobra to build a wastewater plant in state capital Hermosillo.

The plant will have a capacity to treat 2.5m³/s water in the first phase, which wil later be increased to 3m³/s.

The plant is part of the Mex$11bn ($881m) Sonora SI integrated water plan, which involves construction of new dams, reservoirs and a 250km pipeline to supply Hermosillo.

Cobra will build the plant under a public services provision contract, which is scheduled to begin operations in 2012, according to waterworld.com.
