Peru to Award Irrigation Project

Peru is planning to award the $265m phase III of the Chavimochic irrigation project in the second quarter of 2011.

The work involves the construction of the Palo Redondo reservoir, which will have a capacity to store 150m³ of water.

The project will also lay irrigation systems to irrigate over 60,000ha of land in the Chao, Viru and Moche valleys of the La Libertad region.

The irrigation project started 20 years ago, with phases I and II carried out by Brazilian construction firm Odebrecht, according to bnamericas.com.
