ADS develops manhole attachment to improve stormwater drainage

The effectiveness of a stormwater drainage catch basin or manhole can now be increased with the new Nyloplast EnviroHood structure, a new readily available manhole or catch basin attachment launched by Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS).

US-based corrugated HDPE-pipe producer ADS said that the new structure has been designed to trap debris, oil, sediment and other contaminants during stormwater drainage.

ADS Allied Products vice president Jim Clemans said that the need for communities to meet EPA requirements is at a critical stage, as is the need for cleaner water for our environment.

"The ADS engineering staff continually strives to find and design new products that enhance the ability of a stormwater system to control pollution, and our new EnviroHood unit fills that need," added Clemans.

Nyloplast EnviroHood structure, made using high-density polyethylene (HDPE), has a high strength-to-weight ratio owing to its corrugated ribs, ensuring long life.

The company said that the structure has been designed with to withstand the dynamic forces of a rainfall event.

"We’ve designed a product with superior strength, but we’re finding it can be installed at a lower cost and is less intrusive than other products," added Clemans.

ADS said that the new Nyloplast EnviroHood Structure is available in a choice of sizes to cover outlets from 12in to 30in and in models to fit round and flat concrete and Nyloplast structures.
