Bio-Microbics receives NSF certification for water reuse technology

Bio-Microbics has been awarded NSF/ANSI 350 certification for its Bio-Barrier membrane Science Foundation (NSF).

The BioBarrier MBR System employs decentralised treatment technology in water-reuse projects that reduce fresh water consumption and minimise effluent discharge.

Integrated systems with reuse opportunities contribute more to water savings because the water recycles through the system, allowing for less dependence on potable water sources.

NSF scientists have conducted an evaluation of six months’ continuous operation of the Bio-Barrier MBR treatment system at the NSF’s approved wastewater testing facilities.

NSF general manager Tom Bruursema said that the certification positions onsite water reuse technologies as a viable solution to increasingly overburdened water and wastewater treatment facilities, water scarcity and increasing costs associated with energy and water use.
