China awards sewage treatment plant project to Sound Global

Hong-Kong-based water and wastewater treatment solutions provider Sound Global has won a contract for building a number of sewage treatment plants in Xishui County, Guizhou province, China.

Sound Global will provide funding for the construction of sewage treatment plants for 12 villages under Phase I of the project.

The company will adopt build, operate and transfer (BOT) mode for the investment, construction, operation and transfer of these plants, while the build and transfer (BT) mode will be used for the investment and construction of the ancillary drainage network.

Around RMB260m ($41.6m) will be invested in the project and the concession period granted to the company is 30 years.

The drainage network will be repurchased over a three-year period.

Sound Global chairman Wen Yibo said: "Intensive construction of sewage treatment plants and the coordinated treatment of sewage in this region is another typical example of comprehensive sewage management in townships and villages after the successful implementation of bundled sewage treatment projects in rural areas of Changsha, Jiangyan, Siyang, Xinghua and Xintai."
