GE unveils new all-polymer dispersant technology

GE has unveiled the new Solus AP range of all-polymer dispersants that help to control deposits in mid to low-pressure boilers.

Solus AP technology is better able to handle iron oxide deposition and iron and hardness contaminants compared to standard water treatment polymers and all-organic solutions. The new technology also effectively removes troublesome magnesium and silica contaminants from the boiler.

Based on GE’s boiler terpolymer (BTP) chemistry, Solus AP products can be used in boilers operating at pressures of around 900psig.

GE Power & Water global water services technologies product management leader Ava Drayton-Elder said that Solus AP products are designed to be operator friendly and environmentally acceptable.

"Their physical properties make them easy to handle, they are available in a wide variety of customised containers and delivery methods, and they are fully compatible with GE’s TrueSense for steam generation feedwater-first feed control automation system for improved protection against hardness upsets," Drayton-Elder added.

Solus AP technology also helps users to maintain cleaner, scale-free heat-transfer surfaces within boilers during stressed conditions, giving out high-contaminant loads from feedwater-like upsets. Additionally, the technology prevents boiler tube failures by minimising opportunities for overheating, under-deposit corrosion and flow restrictions.

Solus AP products are ammonia free and can be used in copper-bearing feedwater / condensate systems.
