GEO to expand Texas water treatment chemicals division

GEO Specialty Chemicals is planning to expand its water treatment chemicals division based in Deer Park, Texas, US, to produce polyaluminium chloride (PAC) products for municipalities.

The expansion, set to be completed late this year, will be constructed on the 108-acre site that also manufactures GEO’s glycine product line. The expanded facility will manufacture aluminium-based coagulants for water treatment solutions.

GEO Specialty Chemicals CEO and president Kenneth Ghazey said that the capital investment satisfies GEO’s commitment to develop and deliver cost-effective speciality chemical products that help customers meet increasingly stringent regulatory standards.

"We have a healthy respect for sustainability and its relationship to profitability. Companies can do well by doing good," Ghazey added.

GEO water treatment chemicals division senior vice president Scot Lang said that the company is very excited to build a state-of-the-art plant to manufacture new highly active PAC products for coagulation purposes in the Texas market.

"Results from jar tests, trials and full product implementation at multiple sites located throughout Texas are extremely promising," Lang added.

The company currently owns and operates 15 water treatment centres throughout the southeast US and has assisted thousands of municipal water treatment systems in North America.
