H2O Innovation wins seawater desalination contract

Canada-based water treatment solutions provider H2O Innovation has won a contract to supply equipment of a seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) system in the US.

Under the C$10m ($9.1m) contract, the company will design, build and supply major equipment and services for the SWRO system, which is claimed to be the second largest SWRO system in the US.

As of 11 February, the company’s order backlog for water treatment projects above C$25m ($22.75m).

The Monterey Peninsula Water Supply Project in California will replace a significant portion of the existing water supply from Carmel River, with the intake from wells located under the ocean floor.

Once complete, the SWRO is capable of providing 36,336m³/d of potable water. It is expected to be operational in late-2017 or early 2018.

CDM Constructors secured the entire design build contractwhile H2O Innovation has been subcontracted to design and supply the SWRO system and provide commissioning services.
