Haya Water to expand water reuse project in Oman

Haya Water has signed a new RO26.7m ($69.17m) contract with Contractors Union Company to expand a water reuse project in Muscat, Oman.

The 30-month contract is for the second phase of the company’s ongoing Muscat wastewater project in the Walayat of Bausher.

It calls for the design and construction of wastewater networks and water treatment in Al Qurum and Madinat Al Ilam areas.

The project includes the establishment of 13 pumping stations, 885 drainage holes and 5,600 inspection and control rooms.

Ten main channels used for irrigation purporses will also be established and 40km of waste water pipes and 66km of side pipes will be expanded.

The contract also includes the extension of optical fibre cables and connecting around 5,000 private and public units to waste water system.

Upon completion, the water project system will protect groundwater from pollution and is expected to serve over 20,000 people.
