Innovyze receives US Air Force approval for water software

Innovyze has received approval from the US Air Force for its CapPlan Water software package to help utilities improve water supply and distribution systems.

CapPlan Water combines infrastructure, hydraulic, spatial, and historical data from multiple sources to provide an estimate for the likelihood of failure of an underground pipe.

Innovyze vice president and Americas Business director Erick Heath said with many of the world’s drinking water systems reaching or having already exceeded their design lives, utilities need smarter ways to prioritise rehabilitation, repair and/or replacement.

"CapPlan Water is the only software package that combines GIS, hydraulic modeling, cost and budgeting data, and advanced decision support in one seamless package," Heath said

Assets in poor conditions will have a high probability of failure, while assets that affect system operation will normally rate high on the consequence scale.

The software calculates the risk of each asset linearly, using either a bi-directional distribution matrix or a more complex multi-criterion classification.

It will also help utilities to create prioritised short- and long-term water main rehabilitation, replacement, maintenance and management plans.
