Kruger to supply ACTIFLO wastewater treatment system for Bristol in the US

The city of Bristol in Connecticut, US, has awarded a contract to Krüger, a 100% owned subsidiary under France-based Veolia Water Technologies, to install a tertiary wastewater treatment system.

Financial details about the deal have not been disclosed yet.

Under the contract, the firm will be deploying one 2x12MGD ACTIFLO treatment system, which is expected to upgrade the city’s wastewater network and offer benefits of better pollution control.

Kruger is expected to deliver controls, process equipment and motor control equipment along with the wastewater treatment system.

ACTIFLO is aimed at reducing total suspended solids (TSS) from the wastewater and eliminate its phosphorus content in compliance with the required regulatory guidelines.

The tertiary wastewater treatment system is expected to be operational by mid-2017, Veolia said.

Installation of the system is being done in line with Bristol’s Water Pollution Control Division’s (WPCD) initiative for phosphorus removal system upgrade.

WPCD is responsible for sanitary sewer collection and treatment services for nearly 90% of the US city’s populated area.

Kruger’s ACTIFLO was selected for the upgrade due to its compact footprint, operational flexibility and cost efficient maintenance. It is expected to help the city meet environmental standards in the future.
