New York American Water to acquire Mt Ebo water and wastewater systems

New York American Water has signed agreements to acquire water and sewage works located in Mt Ebo, southeast New York, US.

The company will provide the systems with more than 400 customer accounts for both water and wastewater services.

New York American Water president William Varley said that the agreement continues the expansion of the company’s operations into the upstate area, north of its historical Long Island base.

"Our new customers in Mt Ebo will benefit from our being able to leverage the economies of scale and broader technological expertise that come from being part of a larger operation," Varley added.

Mt Ebo Water Works owner Lawrence Nadel said that customers will benefit from having their water and wastewater services handled by New York American Water.

"These systems are critical to the community, and the company brings a wealth of experience, resources and commitment. It’s what they do, 24/7," Nadel added.

New York American Water is the largest investor-owned water utility in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water services to more than 370,000 people.

The company is awaiting approval from the New York Public Service Commission for the purchase of the two systems. Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
