Saudi Arabian university and Pall to develop new water treatment technologies

US-based filtration, separation and purification technologies company Pall has announced that it has formed a partnership with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia, to develop and advance new water treatment technologies.

Pall will participate in the research programmes related to filtration, separations, and purification technologies, as part of KAUST Industry Collaboration Program (KICP).

As part of KAUST Economic Development the membership-based programme KICP will aim at improving productive partnerships between the country’s industries and international key partners.

Pall Industrial president Ruby Chandy said that the Middle-East is a vital market to grow.

"This collaboration illustrates our continued commitment to meeting the current and evolving needs of the region’s industries and utilities," Chandy added.

Pall Industrial R&D senior vice president Brian Muellers said, "By becoming part of this collaboration, we can match our deep technical and commercial knowledge with the research capabilities at KAUST and its partners to help further efforts in high-growth areas that will only become more critical in the coming years."

The company is also expecting to team up with a number of research centres in Saudi Arabia, and pair with industrial partners in a wide range of research initiatives.

Under the partnership, Pall will add to KAUST’s extensive and well-equipped laboratory facilities with applications expertise, separations materials and pilot scale systems, to develop commercially sustainable solutions to address the separation problem.

In addition, the partnership is anticipated to develop new alternative fuels and other areas that are of critical importance to communities and businesses across the globe and the Middle East.
