Parkson upgrades water recycling plant with disinfection system in US

US-based water equipment and solutions provider Parkson has upgraded a Hawaii water recycling plant using its MaximOS sodium hypochlorite on-site generation disinfection system.

The upgrade is part of a public-private partnership between Parkson and the operator of the water recycling facility. It is intended to reduce operating costs and maintain required standards of water quality.

Parkson’s MaximOS and other technologies installed at the plant facilitate irrigation and process and recycle water. The 13 million gallons/day facility helps to preserve Hawaii’s drinking water and provides processed water for a power plant and an oil refinery.

The MaximOS disinfection system replaced a sodium hypochlorite system that used expensive chemicals to recycle the water. The new installation relies on salt, reducing operational costs.

Parkson provided four MaximOS on-site generation units for the plant. These utilise self-cleaning electrolytic cells that ensure longer lifecycles and easy operation, partly as a result of eliminating the need for acid-washing during normal maintenance. The units also reduce labour needs for operations and maintenance (O&M).

MaximOS commercial leader John Deogracias said: "The technology behind MaximOS is state of the art and allows for the most reliable and efficient means to support the water recycling facility operator’s O&M budget."

MaximOS product manager Randy Otts said that water recycling reduces the strain on drinking water supplies.

"As technologies like MaximOS become more efficient and cost effective to operate, we can bring the benefits of recycled water to more people," he added.
