Passavant-Roediger wins India water and wastewater treatment contracts

Drake & Scull’s German subsidiary Passavant-Roediger has been awarded contracts worth AED50m ($13m) for two water and wastewater treatment plants in western India.

Under the first contract, the company will construct an effluent treatment plant at Ford India’s new vehicle and engine assembly plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

The company will design, engineer, supply, install and commission all mechanical and electrical works for the plant, which has a design capacity to handle eight million litres of river water a day, and a wastewater treatment plant capacity of 4,500m³ per day.

The second contract was awarded by the Rajasthan Government. The company will be responsible for testing and commissioning 80km of sewer systems and all ancillary works, This includes the construction of manholes, sewage pump houses and rising main and property connections in the town of Nathdwara.

The contract also includes the ten-year operation and maintenance of all civil, mechanical, electrical and automation works for the sewer system and the sewage pumping station.

Passavant-Roediger managing director Mazen Bachir said that the company’s patented in-house technologies have proved their capabilities in various water and wastewater treatment projects across Europe, MENA and Asia.

"We see tremendous potential and opportunities in this market and we will continue to pursue our strategy to establish a greater presence in the growing Indian market and utilise DSI’s existing resources, personnel and network of offices to secure projects across India."
