Premier Alliance to implement automated response at Ojai water treatment plant in the US

The Ojai Valley Sanitary District (OVSD), a public agency providing sanitary sewer service for about 20,000 residents in the city of Ojai in California, US, has selected Premier Alliance Group to implement its automated demand response (Auto-DR) programme at its water treatment plant.

OVSD has undertaken the project as part of its focus on energy efficiency and green energy solutions.

Premier Alliance Group will implement Southern California Edison’s Auto-DR programme at the plant, which is located about 70 miles west of downtown Los Angeles.

Under the project, the company will install control systems that will allow safe and systematic closure of two large aerator motors that are used during the oxidation process at the facility.

A team of engineers from Premier Alliance conducted an investigation at the plant, and identified the 120kW of electricity use as an ideal way to reduce power consumption at the facility during peak summer demands.

Premier Alliance Group Energy Services senior vice president Rob Davis said OVSD selected the company because of its experience with water, sanitation, energy, and gas utilities.
