Sembcorp to build new industrial wastewater treatment plant in China

Sembcorp (China) Holding has signed a joint venture agreement to develop its first beachhead in Jingmen, Hubei province.

The company will build, own and operate a new industrial wastewater treatment plant in the Jingmen Chemical Industrial Park, involving a total investment of CNY98.7m.

Sembcorp (China) Holding will own a 95% stake in the joint venture. The remaining 5% will be held by Jingmen Xinyuan Investment Company, wholly owned by the Duodao District Government of Jingmen and a business arm of the JCIP Administration Committee.

Expected to be completed in the first half of 2016, the facility will have an initial capacity of 10,000m³ a day with capabilities to treat multiple streams of industrial wastewater. It will provide industrial wastewater treatment services to companies in the JCIP under a 30-year exclusive concession agreement.

Sembcorp China CEO Alan Yau said that the company will contribute its environmental protection to Hubei province through its specialised water solutions while supporting industrialisation.
