Sound Global to build new Chinese sewage treatment plant

Hong-Kong-based water and wastewater treatment solutions provider Sound Global has won a contract to build a sewage treatment plant for Jikou New Emerging Industries Park in Sanming City, Fujian Province, China.

Located in the Sanming Taiwanese investment zone, the short-term designed daily treatment capacity of the plant will be around 15,000m³/day, and the long-term 45,000m³/day.

Around RMB50.6m ($8.6m) will be invested for phase I of the project, which has a licensed operating term of 31 years, inclusive of a one year construction period.

Sound Global will be responsible for the investment and construction of the project on a build-operate and transfer (BOT) basis.

Sound Global chairman Wen Yibo said that the company has continued to make strides after winning the sewage treatment plant BOT project in Hebei, Anhui, Xinjiang, Jiangsu and Shandong recently.

"Sound Global has successfully won the bid for the sewage treatment plant BOT project for Jikou New Emerging Industries Park of Sanming City, which will have significant positive impact on its market positioning in mainland China, especially the sewage treatment market in the southeast region," Yibo added.

"Sound Global will fully leverage on its competitive edge in technology, capital, management and complete industry chain to provide effective solutions for sewage prevention and treatment in Fujian Province."
