US university selects Hydration Technology Innovations for urban water infrastructure programme

Stanford University in US has selected water and wastewater filtration membrane technology developer, Hydration Technology Innovations (HTI), to be a member of its Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) of the Stanford University Engineering Research Center (ERC).

ERC works towards the Re-inventing the Nation’s Urban Water Infrastructure (ReNUWIt) programme.

Stanford University created the ERC Industrial Affiliates Program to facilitate the implementation of the ReNUWIt programme.

ERC will provide opportunities for all of its affiliate members to introduce their expertise in academic and research field and collectively develop a better understanding of urban water management to provide reliable and energy efficient water supply.

The ERC Industrial Affiliates Program was set up to create a culture of innovation and mechanisms to translate university ideas into professional practice.

As a member of IAB, HTI’s guidance and active participation alongside its expertise in water and forward osmosis membrane technology is expected to help the ReNUWIt programme.

HTI manufactures forward osmosis membrane material that can virtually clear all type of contaminants from the water.

Forward osmosis technology can filter water without high pumping pressure and uses less power.

The technology has been developed using cost-effective materials that are capable of filtering highly contaminated dirty water, even those containing high solid concentrations, without plugging.

The affiliate members of ERC are the Stanford University, the University of California-Berkley, Colorado School of Mines and New Mexico State University.

ERC provides funding from the National Science Foundation to its affiliate members to support the essential education and research required for the ReNUWIt programme.
