Veolia to provide wastewater treatment solution to Philippines power plant

Formosa Heavy Industries (FHI) Taiwan has selected Veolia’s zero liquid discharge (ZLD) technology and other solutions for a complete wastewater treatment facility at San Miguel Corporation’s Limay power plant in the Philippines.

Veolia South East Asia business development director Carlo Patteri said that the contract was desired by many in the industry, reaffirming Veolia’s presence in the Philippines.

"We are honoured to receive positive acknowledgment by established conglomerates such as FHI and San Miguel," Patteri added.

Veolia customised its wastewater treatment solution for the project, including technologies such as Actiflo and ZLD-concept evaporators and crystallisers.

The Limay power plant features a pretreatment process, a demineralised water system, a condensate polisher, a wastewater treatment system, and the Veolia ZLD concept evaporator and crystalliser to treat resin regeneration wastewater.

The demineralised water system also uses Actiflo technology. It includes pre-treatment screening and solids removal after the effluent is performed.
