VA Tech Wabag, one of the leading Indian MNCs in the field of water and water treatment, has received an order for the total water management of Kakatiya and Rayalaseema thermal power projects under the balance of plants package, as part of a consortium. WABAG’s portion involves around INR2,900m (€47m) for the complete water management.
The scope of the project includes raw water pre-treatment, plant demineralisation, circulating water system, cooling water chemical dosing system, cooling water treatment system, effluent treatment system and condensate polishing unit (CPU) for both locations and the recycling system for the Rayalaseem thermal power project location. The capacity of Kakatiya and Rayalaseema thermal power projects is 600MW each. The projects will be implemented in the next 30 months.
Commenting on the development, Rajiv Mittal, managing director of VA Tech Wabag said: “The continuous flow of orders and the orders on hand show good visibility for the company. This also re-establishes the fact that WABAG enjoys a leadership position in total water management, capable of handling complete water systems in a power plant.”
