Strauss Water Purification Technology to be Tested in Space

The Fisher Institute for Air and Space Strategic Studies and Strauss Water are to test a new water purification technology in space.

Research teams hope to purify drinking water using Strauss’s polymer-based biomedical technology in zero gravity conditions.

Strauss Water research and development vice-president Haim Wilder said the experiment coincides with the continuous effort of Strauss Water to develop new technologies and materials that will facilitate the effective removal of bacteria and viruses under extreme conditions.

The data accumulated from the research in space will have implications for purifying water on earth.

“As Strauss Water’s technology targets diverse markets in the world, it can provide solutions to both developed and developing countries, while contending with various water qualities,” said Strauss Water CEO Rami Ronen.

Fisher and Strauss will carry out the experiment by a commercial contract with NanoRacks under its space act agreement with NASA.
