Kuwait Plans Wastewater Treatment Plant

Kuwait is to build a KD500m ($1.8bn) wastewater-treatment plant in Umm Al Hayman, south of Kuwait City.

The plant will be constructed in two phases and will treat 650,000m³ of wastewater per day, meeting the demands of southern Kuwait.

The plant, which will be built through a public-private partnership, is expected to be operational from January 2015, according to Bloomberg.

The wastewater plant is part of Kuwait’s four-year KD30.8bn ($108.4bn) development plan.
