ITT to Provide Water Pumping Stations for Indian Project

A consortium led by ITT Corporation has received a $74m contract to provide two water pumping stations for Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam’s Kutch Branch Canal Lift Irrigation project in India.

The two stations will have a capacity to pump 196 million litres of water a day.

On completion, the canal project will supply water to 1,129km² of land within 182 villages in Kutch District, Gujarat.

ITT will work in collaboration with Megha Engineering & Infrastructure, and expects to complete the project by the end of 2012.

ITT India president and managing director Sam Yamdagni said the firm’s technology will help bring water to parched lands by efficiently transporting water to where it is needed most.
